Coldwell Banker Grass Roots Realty has moved its Grass Valley office to a more visible and convenient location at 855 Sutton Way at the corner of Brunswick Road—at the center and main crossroads of Nevada County.

Nevada County is unlike any other place—that’s why we choose to live here—and we’ve always had a certain degree of immunity from the economic woes that afflict the rest of the nation. While the Great Depression rocked the United States, we didn’t really have a depression here, because of the gold mines.

The days of the lone miner and his pan, crouched hopefully beside a stream, were over by the time the depression hit. But Nevada County’s hard rock miners were busy keeping this area prosperous by mining the gold that lay deep underground, while hard times stalked the rest of the country.

The land is still a strong force in our economy, continuing to give up its riches. What we want from the land has changed, but its value is still nugget-bright.

More and more people are leaving the pressures of the city. Many are continuing their careers by telecommuting.
